The future of the world is changing.
Technology is changing the way we live and work, with its ability to make our homes better places to live.
Today, nearly half of the population of the US live in homes built in the past 50 years, with a third living in homes that have not yet been built.
As the technology continues to transform, we expect the next 50 years to be defined by the emergence of homes that are both more comfortable and more efficient.
This is why, over the next few years, we are investing in the construction of more homes in the US and the European Union that have been built with a modern, sustainable architecture.
As a result, we will create more affordable and sustainable homes that better meet the needs of today’s households.
We want to be at the forefront of this new era.
We are working closely with the architectural and engineering firms that are building these new homes and we hope that the homes we build will bring many benefits to the American and European consumer.
The first phase of our new architecture portfolio is a comprehensive architectural design and construction suite that includes modernist, minimalist and open-concept designs, incorporating elements of nature, design elements, energy efficiency, energy conservation, and the needs and needs of people.
Our vision is to build a portfolio of more than 50 projects across multiple states and cities across the country.
In the coming months, we intend to complete a series of homes in our state of Arizona, which we are also planning to begin construction on in 2018.
This phase will include homes in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Utah and California.
In addition to homes, we have been working with developers and design professionals to create a portfolio that addresses the needs in rural areas.
In 2018, we plan to begin building houses in the Navajo Nation of American Indians.
We also are working with a number of small businesses in Arizona and Arizona’s Navajo Nation, which has a growing population.
In 2017, we completed construction of a $300 million project that will bring new residential development to the town of Phoenix, Arizona, a development that has been hailed by locals as a major step forward in the region.
These projects are an important part of our overall strategy to improve the quality of life for the American people.
Building new homes with a sustainable architecture in a low-impact way is a critical part of this strategy.
In fact, it is our vision to provide affordable housing in the United States and around the world to millions of people who need a safe and comfortable place to live, work, shop and play.
The new buildings will be built with the same materials and technology that are used in existing homes, and we expect them to meet the standards of modern architecture and design, and be as efficient as possible.
The houses will be made of a mix of locally sourced materials, with the goal of producing the lowest-energy, highest-performance houses that will provide homes that meet the most basic requirements of modern living.
As we build these homes, they will be designed with sustainability in mind, with energy conservation in mind and climate protection in mind.
In 2019, we announced a $200 million fund for affordable housing to provide low-income and vulnerable communities with housing that is both affordable and energy efficient.
The fund will also provide loans to assist with the construction and operation of these homes and will be used to assist communities that are experiencing rapid urban growth.
We believe this new funding will support more than 10,000 low- and moderate-income housing units that will serve the needs not only of these communities, but of the communities around them as well.
We look forward to partnering with many local and state governments, the American Public Health Association, the National Association of Realtors, and other organizations to further develop the affordable housing initiatives we announced in 2018 and to help communities transition to the new, sustainable architectural design.
In 2020, we launched the Sustainable Design Initiative, which is a collaborative initiative between the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Energy to advance the advancement of energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings and materials used in our homes.
The goal of the initiative is to make buildings more energy efficient, and to provide new homes more energy-efficient by reducing energy usage and creating the opportunity for people to live more energyably.
The Sustainable Design Challenge will help to identify sustainable design solutions for the construction, maintenance and use of homes.
In order to accelerate the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals, HUD and the DOE are committed to supporting local communities and governments in the development of sustainable building and materials.
In 2021, we initiated the Sustainable Housing Program to provide assistance to communities to address their housing needs and build more affordable housing.
In cooperation with the Department for Urban Design, HUD is partnering with local governments, developers, architects and homeowners to provide free technical assistance to help address the housing needs of their communities.
